Cobra is a privately held capital services company with an entrepreneurial approach. Cobra's two founders are high-energy CPA/bankers from Chicago. Dale R. Kluga previously founded three niche-oriented Chicago based bank leasing services firms, one of which was acquired by Bank of America. Dexter S. Tong was an equity partner in charge of the treasury function for a world-class securities firm. Our founders have developed a substantial network of financial partners who have a clear grasp of the needs of small and middle market businesses.

The Model
The Cobra Capital business model was carefully and patiently conceived over the last 28 years by its founders, both Certified Public Accountants with complimentary Commercial Banking and Treasury backgrounds from two major Chicago banks. The past three decades were an ideal testing period for underwriting and servicing small business and middle market relationships. Our founder’s diverse and unique entrepreneurial banking backgrounds have been developed during historically significant and unprecedented economic cycles. Cobra Capital is the direct result of many lessons learned from these dynamic and challenging times.
The Cobra model was tested within a lending function and the more challenging, workout division "penalty box." From the peak of lending to the LBO's in the 1980’s to the bottom of our current historic credit crisis, this has been the best time to evaluate and test an underwriting, funding and collection process. Cobra evolved as a result of our cumulative experiences. Our underwriting process is extremely hands-on and thorough. Credit scoring is used only as a single tool and minimal component of our overall credit process. Our primary focus is on quality management teams who can demonstrate a proven track record of funding and managing a growth-oriented firm.
